There are several places that serve nice fish head soup. One of them is this stall called “Chai Ji” in Kovan Food Centre, located next to the Heartland Shopping Mall (Kovan MRT).
The fish head is pretty meaty, as well as bony, and certainly for lovers of this dish, the good news is that the serving size is quite generous. It is enough to fill an empty stomach. As you dive into the bottom of the bowl, you will find plenty of crunchy bitter gourd. The soup has a great milky taste; no wonder every friend I ask along to try this order would end up gulping the entire bowl.
For those who prefer clear soups, rest assured that you would not be disappointed.
However, I am a little disappointed by the courtesy of the staff. The female stall helper (she is the one who usually takes your order) can be rude at times, perhaps she was overworked during busy lunch hour. A consistent smile from her will make the dining experience perfect. However, to be fair, this stall does deserve a high rating for the quality and quantity of their servings.
